PURE LAND NOTES

Back in 2014 ESC17 took place in the Southampton Solent University Conference Centre in Above Bar Street in Southampton city centre. Since then this part of the city has been redeveloped to become its new Cultural Quarter. This redevelopment included the construction of the prestigious Spark building; the new home for the Southampton Solent University Conference Centre and venue for 16 plus talks that will be presented (in English) at ESC19 by delegates from Japan, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Poland, Switzerland, the US and the UK.

THE POD is a futuristic structure containing a full-size lecture room that stands on four steel pillars three stories high in the centre of the vast atrium of the Spark building; venue for the 19th biennial European Shin Buddhist Conference.

On Fri 24th we will take lunch on the Bridge to the Pod (seen left) and later that day a special Gala Dinner hosted by Nishi Hongwanji (our mother temple in Japan) will take place in a part of the atrium.
