In 2014, and organised by Chomon House and the SBFUK, the 17th European Shin Buddhist Conference (ESC) came to Southampton and took place in the UK for only the second time in its 37-year history.
In August 2016, the 18th ESC took place in the great city of Antwerp in Belgium - and it was decided there that the 19th ESC will come to Southampton again in 2018!
Back in 2014 ESC17 took place in the Southampton Solent University Conference Centre in Above Bar Street in Southampton city centre. Since then this part of the city has been redeveloped to become its new Cultural Quarter. This redevelopment included the construction of the prestigious Spark building; the new home for the Southampton Solent University Conference Centre; and venue for 16 plus talks that will be presented at ESC19 by delegates from Japan, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Poland, Switzerland, the US and the UK.
As ESC19 draws nearer this sub-site will be used to post all ESC updates. For instance, in September this year we will be publishing a promo-code that will get ESC attendees a 20% discount on rooms at Jury’s Inn, a 3 star hotel which is just a few minutes’ walk away from the conference site. Alongside this we will give details on cheaper dormitory accommodations with Southampton Solent University.
